Safeguarding

The Church of England is committed to the safeguarding, care and nurturing of everyone within our church community. It’s important that parishes give due focus to this vital area.  We are committed to following legislation, guidance and recognized good practice. The Church of England has agreed to a clear set of safeguarding principles – see the safeguarding e-manual and the policy and practice guidance page on the Church of England website for more information.

If your church or parish has a website:

  • Ensure information is displayed about how to contact the DSA(s) and/or Parish Safeguarding Officer, and how to get help outside the church with child and adult safeguarding issues
  • Ensure that safeguarding arrangements are clearly visible on the front page of the parish website

Some parishes do not have their own website. In this situation, the parish may want to offer some information on their pages on the A Church Near You website.
