The three UK charity regulators, together with the Charities Regulator in Ireland, have launched a consultation on the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities, aka the Charities SORP.
Preparers, auditors and examiners of charity accounts, trustees, employees and beneficiaries of charities and others who may use charity accounts including donors, funders, financial supporters and other stakeholders, are all invited to review the consultation and comment of the changes.
The consultation ends on 20 June 2025.
The Church of England has adopted the SORP as its standard basis for annual financial reporting by parishes.
